Picnic at Hanging Rock 2012
Every year the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club (MRADMC!) hold their Picnic at Hanging Rock car show. This year we organised a convoy to park up the Alfas next to each other, as there are no reserved areas. We ended up with five Alfas and three Fiats, a small turnout but a group of nice folk. The weather was near perfect, with dust-settling rain in prior days and a nice cool breeze and warm sun. I expected the day to be...
AROCA Phillip Island Feb 2012
We didn’t run in today’s Phillips Island sprint day, so I went along and volunteered as an official – marshalling cars in the dummy grid and running errands and delivering messages. All of our events are run by volunteers, so it’s a good way to pay back some of the efforts of others. It’s also quite...
AROCA EMR to Maldon December 2011
On a cool breezy summers day in December, Fiona and I organised an ‘early morning run’ from Melbourne to Lancefield and then on to Maldon in the historic goldfields area of Victoria. We had a great turn out, a fine drive on some lesser-known roads and a great lunch at the Kangaroo Hotel.
Sh*tboxes at Spettacolo
Mario Speedwagon II went on display today at the Spettacolo club display day. Two of the other Alfas going on the rally were displayed too, and there was a fundraising barbecue and cake stall. We’ve made some great progress towards our fundraising goal thanks to the generosity of our friends, family and colleagues. At the time of writing the Scuderia Shitbox fundraising tally stands at $3,960 – almost at the minimum we...
Spettacolo 2011
The annual ‘Spettacolo’ club display day and concorso was held this year on the oval at Wesley College. Unfortunately it rained on and off all day which limited numbers of cars and visitors, but it was still a great day out. The breaking drought and return to normal wet and unpredictable Melbourne weather has it’s drawbacks. Despite this there were some great cars on display getting a lot of interest, including an...
Motorclassica 2011
On a very warm October day we visited the Motorclassica classic car show and Concours d’Elegance. As I was visiting with my 8yo son Jack, I didn’t have a lot of time to slow down and soak in the magnificent cars on display or take many photos. I was particularly fascinated however with a set of three Alfa 6c 1750s, including the ‘Mrs Jones’ 6c Zagato pictured in my photos...
