New bits #11
Received a package from Alfa-Service in Germany. Very friendly service and well priced. I could have made a rear parcel shelf from a template, but this one is very nice, pre-drilled and with the right mounting hooks. The sun-visors are very cool...
1750 GTV – March 2011
Visited Sam’s workshop, and he’s finished repairing the right-hand inner sills and A and B pillars. The B-pillar repair section from Classic Alfa looks very good. More former sins revealed – an ugly repair around the left-hand front shock mount. The mount itself is also cracked and has been repaired. Does anyone know if the mount is being...
1750 GTV – February 2011 #6
I collected a NOS rear number plate holder. I have no idea why I bought this really, it was very much an impulse buy. Purchased from tsu105 on the AlfaBB who is a nice bloke with great taste in Alfas based out of Thailand. Not a lot of action at the moment, Sam is busy working on a mobile home (!) so no action this week on the body repairs. I blasted and painted the trunnion arm, and it’s put aside ready for new bushes and...
Modern Motor Oct 1968
I picked up a copy of Modern Motor from Oct 1968 with a full review of the new 1750 Alfas. I love the headline “Thirty years from now Alfa’s latest offerings – the 1750 Berlina and GTV – will be collectors’...
1750 GTV – February 2011 #5
Visited the workshop today, and progress has been made on the left hand centre sill panel, A and B pillars. This is all looking very tidy now, very happy. The right hand sill is a bit worse (see previous post), Classic Alfa delivered a B pillar repair section which will work a treat. Might see some progress on that next...
1750 GTV – February 2011 #4
A minor update. I needed a front tailshaft coupling (donut/guibo) for the 75 and they are much cheaper from EB Spares in the UK, so I ordered some other bits for no extra postage… A kit for the fuel flap with new rivets rubbers and spring, spare brake clips and pins, and a handbrake cable. I also received a set of replica decals from Carclassic. I don’t entirely know where all of these go, but the research is part of...
