AROCA Winton April 2018
We returned to Winton again in April for the first round of Alfa Racing. This time I was competing in the Madame Sud, while team mate Phil was driving the 156 GTA. The photos below were taken in the dry qualifying and start to race one, after which the weather turned dreadful with a wet track all day. This didn’t deter Phil at all in the mighty Sunk Cost Racing GTA – he qualified on pole and won all three races. Some...
AROCA Winton Nov 2017
Another superb one-day racing event by AROCA Victoria at Winton Raceway. Getting straight on the track for a combined practice and qualifying is challenging, and the track had definitely changed it’s traction level since the previous weekend’s event, so I qualified further back than I should have. I built some confidence in the races though, particularly races three and four which were held on the short track...
Veloce Racing Winton Nov 2017
It had been almost twelve months since the Madame Sud was out on the track, so I was super-excited. For another year the NSW-based Veloce Racing Association organised a racing round at Winton Raceway, so we travelled up to join them. The all-Alfa field of 12 race cars was a support category for the Winton 300 endurance race. The racing was super-close this year, with 5-6 cars all qualified within a second of each other. Fellow...
AROCA Winton Nov 2016
Two weekends in a row at Winton Raceway, this time for our own club track day with supersprints and racing. The day turned out to be quite warm, well into the 30s which provided some challenges. We had a strong field of 13 starters in the racing, which was fantastic. I had some good competition in every race, especially from Adriano (car #91) who was not giving an inch and I was unable to get in front in either of race 2 or 3. I...
Veloce Racing Winton Nov 2016
The Veloce Racing Association is based primarily in NSW, and runs a great all-Alfa series including the famous East Coast Challenge run across Victoria, NSW, and Queensland. I missed last year’s Winton round of the ECC due to other commitments, but couldn’t miss it this year despite it being so close to our own Alfa Racing round the following weekend. Neil Choi and I took our cars up to represent Victoria against the...
AROCA Broadford August 2016
I approached this event with a bit of trepidation as the weather forecast was for very cold and a lot of rain. Turns out the day was cold but dry in the morning at least, and we got some good runs in. We had a fuel pump failure, but luckily had a spare and some help from Pasquale of Maranello Pur Sang got it replaced quickly. I was really pleased with my best time for the day at 1:10.99, the Sud is clearly well suited to Broadford....
