Motorclassica 2015

Jack (12yo) and I made a flying visit to the excellent Motorclassica show at the Royal Exhibition Buildings this year.  As with previous years it’s an eye-watering smorgasbord of sensationally prepared classics on display.  I do wonder if any of these cars get driven with any real gusto however, they are simply that clean.  The silver Ferrari 250 GT Lusso really left me picking up my jaw from the ground, achingly...

AROCA Sandown Sept 2015

A fine day at Sandown Raceway after a bit of early drizzle.  I spent the day officiating and the day went very smoothly, the competitors seemed to enjoy themselves with only the odd mishap.  Not too many photos though – too busy! The Brown Hornet attracted a nice bit of attention parked in the pit lane, and quite a few nice...

Run to the North August 2015

We joined a nice group of folk and their cars today on a club drive to the north and a lunch organised by our friends Bruno and Mary.  Lots of nice roads up past Yea where I’ve certainly never driven before.  This was our first club run in the Brown Hornet and the car did very well, definitely needs a little tuning but lots of fun.  Not over-endowed with horsepower, but enough to keep up and still plenty of good handling on...

Spa Country Alfesta 2015

This year’s Alfa Romeo Owners Club Easter Nationals (A.K.A. Alfesta) were held in Creswick and the surrounding Spa Country of Victoria. Very pleasant few days of touring, and consuming vast amounts of good food and drink. The beautiful Alfasud Giardinetta came to visit from NSW, and attracted a lot of attention including winning the ‘people’s choice’ award at the show and shine display. The two Alfa 4Cs also...

Winton Alfa Racing March 2015

For the first time in 2015 AROCA is running race events within our sprint days under AASA regulations.  Those of us with suitable cars with rollcages and a AASA national circuit license can compete in proper racing with grid starts and line honours at stake.  It’s relatively inexpensive and a nice step up from club sprints.  We had a good field of cars, although a couple dropped out before the first race.  This left me at the...

Goodwood 73rd Members Meeting 2015

Somehow I managed to end up on a business trip to the UK in March for two years in a row, incredibly well timed!  I bought a ticket for the Goodwood members meeting before the trip was completely finalised in fact, lucky I did as the limited allocation for non-members sold out well in advance.  Another sensational meeting full of mouth-watering racing cars in a beautiful setting, if a little chilly this year.  Turns out Australians...
