New Zealand Festival of Motorsport 2015

The Bottcher family managed to make it out to New Zealand in January for a short holiday break in the North Island.  This was organised in the latter half of 2014 without much thought to motorsport, I guess because not much happens in Australia in January because it’s so bloody hot.  Not so much in New Zealand it seems, we’d coincidentally lined up our break perfectly with the New Zealand Festival of Motorsport.  Such...

Spettacolo 2014

Lots of very nice cars on display today at the 2014 Spettacolo at Wesley College in St Kilda Rd.  Hot weather was a big change from the last couple of wet years and brought out a large selection of display cars.  A display of Zagato cars was very nice, as well as a fine selection of non-Alfas to bring some variety.  It was the first outing for our Brown Hornet and it looked great on display – not very many Suds at all this year,...

Geelong Revival 2014

Sandown Historics 2014

A top day out at Historic Sandown again this year with a tidy display of Formula 5000, Group A/C Touring cars, Group N Historics amongst other categories.  There was a good selection of Alfas in Group S this year which put on a nice display for the marque.  The club held a display on the apron next to the pits with a really nice selection of cars, some photos...

Motorclassica 2014

Definitely an event not worth missing, Motorclassica supplied some fine automobiles for me to drool over again.  The standards are extremely high. My photos are of course of all the Italian machinery and there was plenty of it, too.  A highlight was a freshly restored 1963 (?) Giulia Spider by Zoo Autocraft in NSW – fantastic detail in the restoration and I wish it luck in collecting...

Winton 6 Hour Relay October 2014

Once again I joined the team Maschi di Alfa to try to win the Winton 6-hour relay.  We had our strategy, we felt comfortable on Saturday afternoon, but failed to put together a good result on Sunday.  Still we had lots of fun, avoided any significant mayhem, and came away with smiles all round.  Such a brilliant event, it’s not surprising it is fully subscribed every...
