Spettacolo 2015
This year’s Spettacolo would have to be the biggest show I’ve ever seen, with near-perfect weather making the whole day a real crowd-pleaser. A good display was made of other Italian marques, for me the most lovely of which was the silver 250 GT Lusso. There was a huge display of Montreals as well, more than I’d seen in one place before. Sadly there were only three Alfasuds on display, and one Alfasud Sprint...
AROCA Sandown Sept 2015
A fine day at Sandown Raceway after a bit of early drizzle. I spent the day officiating and the day went very smoothly, the competitors seemed to enjoy themselves with only the odd mishap. Not too many photos though – too busy! The Brown Hornet attracted a nice bit of attention parked in the pit lane, and quite a few nice...
Run to the North August 2015
We joined a nice group of folk and their cars today on a club drive to the north and a lunch organised by our friends Bruno and Mary. Lots of nice roads up past Yea where I’ve certainly never driven before. This was our first club run in the Brown Hornet and the car did very well, definitely needs a little tuning but lots of fun. Not over-endowed with horsepower, but enough to keep up and still plenty of good handling on...
Hornet On The Road June 2015
Super pleased to have the Brown Hornet on the road thanks to the team at Maranello Pur Sang. The car needed surprisingly little done to be roadworthy – sway bar bushes, steering rack adjusted, one brake hose, and some wiper blades. It’s great fun to punt around in, very light and chuckable and that willing 1.5 boxer engine. It’s been a long time since I’ve driven a standard Sud and I’m not...
Spettacolo 2014
Lots of very nice cars on display today at the 2014 Spettacolo at Wesley College in St Kilda Rd. Hot weather was a big change from the last couple of wet years and brought out a large selection of display cars. A display of Zagato cars was very nice, as well as a fine selection of non-Alfas to bring some variety. It was the first outing for our Brown Hornet and it looked great on display – not very many Suds at all this year,...
Brown Hornet Painted
We sent the car away to a panel shop in Thomastown for repairs, definitely done to a budget and not a concours result as the car will be a regular driver. The roof was stripped and treated with deoxidene before re-painting. Now to sort the mechanicals and some interior trim repairs. Fresh from panel and paint repairs...
