RACV Mornington Classic Showcase 2015
Jack and I dropped in on the RACV Classic Showcase, this year moved from Flemington to Mornington. This show displays a really nice selection of interesting marques, and incorporates a concours competition for both the Mercedes and MG car clubs. A highlight was seeing the 4C up close and personal for the first time. First impressions – it’s tiny, but also very wide. Much prettier in real life than in the...
British Car Museum in NZ
No family holiday would be complete without visiting a car museum, everyone knows that. This time it was the British Car Museum at Te Awanga near Napier in the Hawkes Bay region. This is one man’s passion for collecting on display with over 400 cars packed in, most still driveable and in very original condition. New Zealand imported and assembled a large number of British cars right through until the 1980s when Australia had...
New Zealand Festival of Motorsport 2015

This was organised in the latter half of 2014 without much thought to motorsport, I guess because not much happens in Australia in January because it’s so bloody hot. Not so much in New Zealand it seems, we’d coincidentally lined up our break perfectly with the New Zealand Festival of Motorsport. Such...
Geelong Museum of Motoring
On a very hot January day we took a drive down to Geelong, the back way via Ballan and Anakie – enjoying the climate controlled comfort of the 159. We then stopped in at the newly opened Geelong Museum of Motoring, definitely worth a visit. The museum inherited some of the interactive displays from the now-closed Ford Discovery Centre and these kept Jack entertained for quite a while. A real nice mix of cars in here, nothing...
Spettacolo 2014
Lots of very nice cars on display today at the 2014 Spettacolo at Wesley College in St Kilda Rd. Hot weather was a big change from the last couple of wet years and brought out a large selection of display cars. A display of Zagato cars was very nice, as well as a fine selection of non-Alfas to bring some variety. It was the first outing for our Brown Hornet and it looked great on display – not very many Suds at all this year,...
