No family holiday would be complete without visiting a car museum, everyone knows that. This time it was the British Car Museum at Te Awanga near Napier in the Hawkes Bay region. This is one man’s passion for collecting on display with over 400 cars packed in, most still driveable and in very original condition. New Zealand imported and assembled a large number of British cars right through until the 1980s when Australia had long before mostly moved to local or Japanese imports. This museum is filled with cars which were never seen on Australian roads so it’s very interesting. It smells of original condition British car too – dusty oil and old vinyl. A must see if you’re in that part of the world.
