Introducing the 1750 GTV

In 1999 Fiona and I bought a 1969 1750 GTV.  We’d always had a fascination with the 1750 coupes, and weakened when this one came up in Unique Cars.  We knew the car had a little rust in the sills and the boot lid and we’d give her a tidy up before driving her properly.  We did do one great weekend away down the Mornington Peninsula – what a fabulous car for touring.  We started to strip the car a bit in 1999, with intent to get the bodywork and paint done fairly quickly.  In 2000 however we decided to get married and move overseas for a while, so the car went away into dry storage on the farm.

Recently I asked for the build details from the Alfa factory archives:

Dear Mister Bottcher,

with reference to your request we are informing you as follows.

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 1451729,
originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce RHD (105.45),
engine series AR 00548, manufactured on the 17th December 1968 and sold
on the 21st December 1968 to J. Wright & Sons from Melbourne, Australia.
The body colour is hawthorn white (AR 013), with black skai interiors.

Yours, Sincerely,

Marco Fazio

  1. Just found this site, Evan, and am now working my way through it. As I mentioned on the Forum, I have a ’69 1750 (with a 2l engine) that I am doing bits and pieces to as time4 and finances permit. I think this is a great site and very, very useful.
